Charles A. Schue, III
Co-Founder, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board
To define what UrsaNav represents, look no further than President and CEO Charles A. (Chuck) Schue, III. Inspired to discover innovative solutions to tomorrow’s challenges, Chuck’s strategic vision has shaped a company that helps solve real-world problems. Chuck sees his role as that of “Architect of Ideas”.
For more than three decades, Chuck’s quest for knowledge within diverse technology areas has enabled him to build experience and leadership in the government and private sectors as well as with academia. A recognized expert in radio navigation systems, his contributions have led to major critical infrastructure and safety-of-life navigation system improvements. Chuck’s expertise also extends to hardware and software product development, corporate memory management, robotics, biomedical engineering, and advanced engineering and IT solutions in support of military, government, and commercial critical infrastructure systems. This extensive repertoire adds great value to UrsaNav with its multi-focused approach and wide-ranging capabilities. Chuck's imaginative and entrepreneurial approach to technology led him to form a company of like-minded subject matter experts who focus on delivering the highest quality products and services to customers.
Chuck tells his employees that combining passion with the right tools and resources results in the ability for almost anyone to "be a star." He challenges and empowers employees to push beyond boundaries, explore the impossible, and make excellence a habit—not an occurrence. As a leader, he sets the bar high and expects UrsaNav to exceed all expectations.
Moving 22 times in the past 36 years did not dampen Chuck’s desire for continuing education. He completed his B.S. degree in two years at DeVry University, with honors. He also completed M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, with honors, and Engineering Management from Western New England College. Most recently, Chuck completed an Executive MBA from George Mason University, where he was selected as the outstanding graduate.
A Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Quality Auditor, Chuck also remains active in industry organizations. He is a past Chairman of the Washington, D.C. Section of the Institute of Navigation; the Marine Representative for the Institute of Navigation; a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation; a Director of the International Loran Association; a contributing member of the RTCM Special Committee 127 on the Enhanced Loran Data Channel; and on the Advisory Board of the GMU School of Management. He is also a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Participation in such organizations and other business and community service efforts is a top priority, and Chuck believes it helps provide diversity of thought and additional perspective. His goal is to navigate UrsaNav on a course that includes making the world a safer and better place—whether through innovative products, vital services, or community service initiatives.
